Construction Laborer

Eastern States Construction Service, Inc., a leading Heavy/Highway and Site Development Construction Company specializing in public sewer, water, site development and heavy/highway construction projects is currently seeking hard working, eager to learn, and dependable Construction Laborers to join our team.

In this position, your primary responsibility will be performing duties necessary to the successful completion of heavy/highway construction projects. May be placed on a Pipe Crew, Cement Crew, Dirt Crew and/or Asphalt Crew and job duties may include any of the following:

  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
  • Assist in the installation of sewer, water, and storm drain pipes, using pipe-laying machinery and laser guidance equipment.
  • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
  • Perform set up and cleanup tasks at jobsite
  • Operation of various equipment including jackhammers, tampers, skid steers, compactors
  • Perform all work efficiently and safely in accordance with State, Federal and Company regulations
  • Finish assigned tasks on time with high standards of quality

Diesel Mechanic - Heavy Construction Equipment

Eastern States Construction Service, a leading Heavy/Highway and Site Development Construction Company based in New Castle County Delaware, is currently seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our highly skilled Construction team.
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible to safely and efficiently perform mechanical repairs and periodic maintenance on heavy construction equipment and trucks.

Duties include:
 Maintain and repair heavy equipment, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical machinery and systems.
 Maintain shop supplies, shop and tools.
 Read, understand and apply information from technical manuals, prints and schematics.
 Assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as needed
 Perform all work efficiently and safely in accordance with State, Federal and Company regulations
 Maintain work areas in clean and safe manner
 Finish assigned tasks on time with high standards of quality
Requirements:
 1-3 years experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment
 Must have own tools
 Strong work ethic
 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
 Ability to effectively communicate
 Ability to comprehend and carry out instruction
 Flexible
 Valid driver’s license
 Ability to lift heavy parts and tools

Foreman - Dirt Crew

Eastern States Construction Service, Inc. is seeking applications for the position of Construction Dirt Foreman. Strong leadership and communication skills are required to coordinate and supervise the activities of field crew in a fast paced, crew oriented environment ensuring the safe and efficient completion of assigned work in compliance with project plans and specifications.

Duties include:

  • Supervise, and coordinate activities of workers engaged in all phases of earth
  • Layout work area and control activities of construction crew for conformance with work plans, rules, policies and directives.
  • Review progress of project and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Perform duties of Laborer or Operator as needed.
  • Complete required paperwork such as timesheets, daily reports, time and material records, and equipment reports.

To be successful in this position you must have a passion for construction, getting the job done right and safely as well as a minimum of five years in heavy construction and experience at a supervisory level. Must have experience with grades, slopes, drainage and ability to read and understand plans. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate and drive others is a must.

Heavy Equipment Operator

We are currently seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our highly skilled Construction team. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of one or more types of heavy equipment (such as excavator, backhoe, dozer, loader, paver or roller) to perform duties essential in the completion of various heavy/highway construction projects.

Duties include:

  • Operate equipment in safe and appropriate manner
  • Ensure work is of high quality work within project specifications
  • Perform daily inspection and maintenance and ensure that equipment is in safe, proper working order including fluid checks and proper lubrication, report when maintenance and repair needed
  • Always maintain awareness of surroundings
  • Assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as needed
  • Perform all work efficiently and safely in accordance with State, Federal and Company regulations
  • Maintain work areas in clean and safe manner
  • Finish assigned tasks on time with high standards of quality

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience, 5+ years preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out instruction
  • Flexible
  • Excavator and/or Dozer experience preferred.
