Concrete Finisher

Eastern States Construction Service, Inc. (Eastern States) is a leading Heavy/Highway and Site Development Construction Company specializing in public sewer, water, site development and heavy/highway construction projects is currently seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher/Carpenter to join our dedicated and highly skilled Construction team.

As a Concrete Finisher, you will be responsible for smoothing out, leveling, and finishing freshly poured concrete.

Duties include:

  • Build wooden forms to support concrete
  • Use wood or plastic forms to shape concrete
  • Prepare surface
  • Set grades
  • Spread concrete and smooth out to ensure concrete is level, to grade, and straight edged using a variety of hand tools and machines
  • Perform all work efficiently and safely in accordance with State, Federal and Company regulations.
  • Finish assigned tasks on time with high standards of quality

Requirements:

  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out instruction
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Valid driver’s license, drug screening and background check required.

Construction Laborer

Eastern States Construction Service, Inc., a leading Heavy/Highway and Site Development Construction Company specializing in public sewer, water, site development and heavy/highway construction projects is currently seeking hard working, eager to learn, and dependable Construction Laborers to join our team.

In this position, your primary responsibility will be performing duties necessary to the successful completion of heavy/highway construction projects. May be placed on a Pipe Crew, Cement Crew, Dirt Crew and/or Asphalt Crew and job duties may include any of the following:

  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
  • Assist in the installation of sewer, water, and storm drain pipes, using pipe-laying machinery and laser guidance equipment.
  • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
  • Perform set up and cleanup tasks at jobsite
  • Operation of various equipment including jackhammers, tampers, skid steers, compactors
  • Perform all work efficiently and safely in accordance with State, Federal and Company regulations
  • Finish assigned tasks on time with high standards of quality

Construction Operations Administrator (Contract Administrator/Compliance Officer)

Eastern States Construction Service has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Contract Administrator/Compliance Officer. This is a diverse and challenging position with responsibilities in Estimating/Bidding, Insurance Administration, DOT Compliance, Safety, and Office Management.

This position is ultimately responsible to ensure the smooth operation of the organization; providing support necessary to operate efficiently while meeting compliance requirements and contractual obligations which includes:

  • Prepare, review, and process construction documents and insurance requirements in accordance with company policies to include all paperwork associated with construction agreements, bid documents, contracts, certificates of insurance, bonds.
  • Complete insurance applications, negotiate rates, manage records, and audit process for various lines of insurance coverage.
  • Meet compliance requirements of Department of Transportation regulations including IFTA, MCS Report, DSW permit, audits, and annual reporting.
  • Responsible for Health and Safety policies for Construction, evaluate and train employees, and ensure work is performed safely and in adherence with OSHA regulations and Company policy.
  • Oversee office operations, focusing on efficiency and time management.

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field is required. Five years construction experience is preferred. To be successful, candidates must be professional and confidential; possess strong leadership qualities; exercise good judgement and sound reasoning; able to build and maintain relationships; possess strong written and verbal communication skills and reading comprehension; understand laws and regulations that apply to the industry; and skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and software.

Eastern States Construction Service, a leading Heavy/Highway and Site Development Construction Company based in New Castle County Delaware, is currently seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our highly skilled Construction team.
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible to safely and efficiently perform mechanical repairs and periodic maintenance on heavy construction equipment and trucks.

Duties include:
 Maintain and repair heavy equipment, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical machinery and systems.
 Maintain shop supplies, shop and tools.
 Read, understand and apply information from technical manuals, prints and schematics.
 Assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as needed
 Perform all work efficiently and safely in accordance with State, Federal and Company regulations
 Maintain work areas in clean and safe manner
 Finish assigned tasks on time with high standards of quality
Requirements:
 1-3 years experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment
 Must have own tools
 Strong work ethic
 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
 Ability to effectively communicate

Luteman - Asphalt Skilled Laborer

The Asphalt Luteman is a skilled craft position responsible to assist in the application of asphalt for roadway and civil construction projects.

Duties include:

  • Perform all work in safely and in accordance to plan specifications.
  • Prepare road surfaces for hot asphalt material.
  • Distribute and rake asphalt material.
  • Finish surfaces by smoothing and tamping asphalt material to grade and thickness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a physically demanding position and work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.

To be successful in this position you must have a strong work ethic and take pride in your work with a passion for getting the job done right and safely. Must be able to maintain constant alertness. One year of experience is required, three years is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and understand and follow direction is a must.
